Temporary License Plates

Temporary license plates are required for transfer, inspection or test drives of unregistered vehicles or trailers. These temporary license plates are valid for 5 days and they are only issued in combination with special temporary license plate insurance, which is verified by the eVB number. In other European countries, you need the green international insurance card when driving with a temporary license plate.

The following documents are required:

  • signed application for temporary license plates
     

  • electronic confirmation of insurance (eVB)
     

  • Fahrzeugschein / part I of registration certificate or Fahrzeugbrief
     

  • part II of registration certificate
     

  • valid TÜV certificate
